This paper is based on a pilot project which looked at the impact of two different modes of learning, face to face and
blended learning, on the environment. The results show that there is only a minor environmental advantage between
the two different modes of learning. The paper puts forward pedagogical approaches that could lead to
environmentally sustainable education.
