How managers can benefit from multiple perspectives in Design Management
conference contribution
posted on 2015-04-21, 14:09 authored by Marta Gasparin, John K. ChristiansenOperations management should be more concerned with the
relationship to design and how the interplay between design
processes and operations can be managed. The design of
products and services has huge implications on operations in
different ways: Design can increase the value of products;
influence and lead to innovation of manufacturing processes;
implications for the supply chain processes and has implications
on the life cycle of products and sustainability issues. To fully
exploit the opportunities, we claim that it's useful for managers
to be aware of the different ways that design processes might be
perceived and managed. Illustrated with examples.
