This guide supports teachers in introducing children and young people to Deaf history and the history of sign language.  It is part of set of resources on 'Deaf Londoners in the 1660s'. The guide features information on the lives of deaf Londoners and on signing in the seventeenth century (including new research by Kate Loveman).

It can also be used with a related set of resources for teaching the Great Fire of London to primary school children.

This guide was created by Kate Loveman and James Harrod for the Reimagining the Restoration project. The 'Deaf Londoners in the 1660s' teaching pack was first published on the Museum of London's website in 2023.
