NIHR Short Placement Award for Research Collaboration (SPARC): Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement Output
This output was co-produced through two patient and public involvement and engagement sessions (PPIE) as part of an NIHR Short Placement Award for Research Collaboration (SPARC), which focused on building research capacity to tackle health inequalities in multiple long term conditions (MLTC). The two PPI sessions were conducted in February 2024 with the Community Learning Project (CLIP) group in Leicester through the support of the Centre for Ethnic Health Research (CEHR).
The first session was aimed at sharing a systematic review idea on MLTC interventions with the group and getting their views on the draft systematic review questions, review scope and inclusion criteria, and draft outcomes. The session was also attended by a graphic illustrator who acted as an observer, listened and took notes to develop a creative summary of the session in the form of a graphic illustration. The group was reconvened for a second session to collectively review the draft illustration, provide additional insights and general feedback on its content, layout, colour theme and style. The final colour theme was selected to reflect the vibrancy of Black African and Caribbean cultures.
