The Antiplatelet Trialists’ Collaboration provided convincing
evidence of benefits of aspirin prophylaxis in
patients after myocardial infarction,1 but many such
patients do not receive it.2 3 Since most patients are followed
up in primary care, practices need to implement
methods of improving aspirin prophylaxis in these
patients. The aim of this multipractice audit led by a
primary care audit group was to assess and improve
levels of prescribing of prophylactic aspirin for patients
after myocardial infarction in Leicestershire.
