The aim of this Special Issue is to present a critical analysis of the reform of coordination of social security in the light of the 2016 - 2019 revision of EU regulation on coordination of social security. The articles scrutinise all areas of the Commission’s proposal for the regulation amending Regulation (EC) No 883/2004 on the coordination of social security systems and Regulation (EC) No 987/2009 laying down the procedure for implementing Regulation (EC) No 883/2004. The introduction provides an overview of the negotiation of the Commission’s proposal and outlines the aim and the structure of the Special Issue.
