Discusses Sir Peter North's "Report of the Review of Drink and Drug-driving Law", focusing on the recommendations that the legal blood alcohol concentration (BAC) limit be reduced from 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood to 50 mg and for the introduction of random testing. Considers issues arising, including the necessity of amending the breath alcohol concentration limit so it correlates to the new BAC, the prosecution threshold policy for drink-driving and whether the blood/urine sample analysis option should be retained. Notes the view taken on sentencing, including the civil sanction option.
