This policy briefing paper was produced by Prof. Rossana Deplano (Professor of International Space Law and Co-Director of the Centre for European Law and Internationalisation (CELI), Dr Francesca Faedi (Lecturer in Space Economy & ‘Space and Society Research lead for the University of Leicester Institute for Space, and Dr Rául González Muñoz, Lecturer in Space Economy and Board Member at the Spanish Association of Aeronautical and Space Law (AEDAE)), supported by the University of Leicester Institute for Policy. This briefing paper aims to inform policy on today’s most pressing issues related to space, providing key recommendations to create a due diligence framework for business practices in space mining building on an an industry-friendly tool for embedding due diligence considerations into business practices created in 2023 by University of Leicester experts.
