My research aims to investigate in-depth the ways in which UK military museums are negotiating the variety of forces and influences that are demanding change. This doctoral thesis investigates the evolving role of military museums in contemporary society, particularly focusing on several themes, which includes the changing role and relevance of military institutions, their organisational values, workplace cultures; as well as the social, political and economic challenges that they are facing within the United Kingdom military sector. As well as looking at the contributions that they make to the wider heritage sector, this research will look at the issues that are situated at the heart of a range of organisations.
