Positive adaptation to compound risk: mental health resilience
Posted on 2024-05-23 - 16:18 authored by Diane Levine
The Positive Adaptation to Compound Risk project was funded by the British Academy’s Humanities and Social Sciences Tackling Global Challenges scheme. The goal of the project was to contribute to our understanding of which resilience-enabling factors impact depression outcomes differentially (that is, have greater or lesser protective value) for young people at lower and higher levels of risk exposure, or how consistent these factors might be over time. The project engaged with 57 young people aged 18-26 living in eMbalenhle, South Africa. Each participant contributed 10 weeks of digital diary entries between July and November 2021, and was interviewed 3 times (June 2021, December 2021, June 2022).
